Greetings all,The last two days have been heavy with debates over my AFFRIMA nomination. This has somehow dragged to the people I love and care for because what started as an honest debate has turned into total turmoil. Contrary to circulating rumor, I have never said “fans don’t put food on my table..” I know better than that. I was built by a loyal fan base.I get it, I took my influence for granted and made a selfish decision. I let down the very people I should have fought for and stood by. For that I am HONESTLY SORRY. I write this not to win sympathy over the on going nomination but purely for a smooth and peaceful life with those I may have hurt. Indeed mistakes were made and lessons have been learnt. As a sign of remorse, I have asked management to withdraw my AFRIMMA nomination with immediate effect because what’s winning a trophy when you can’t win the hearts of your own people?Again I say, I’m sorry for all the damage I may have caused to any of you.Peace, love and light,Shi Nandi.
Rapper Mwila Musonda whose stage name is Slapdee regrets getting involved in politics in the just ended general elections. The rapper said that he made a mistake but fell short of apologizing to his fans in an interview with Radio Phoenix. Slapdee`s nomination as Best Male Southern Africa in the AFRIMMA awards has not been welcomed by many Zambians and have taken the as an opportunity window for the rapper to pay back for siding with the Patriotic Front in the last general election. Slapdee explained that did not have any choice because of contractual obligations saying what he did was ‘necessary’. However, the rapper expressed happiness about the nomination and he has left the ball in the hands of the fans saying that they were free to vote for other artists if they were not willing to vote for him, he said this to radio Phoenix. The other artists nominated are Bombshell and Sampa the Great who are in the same category of best Female Rapper.
Zambian list for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMMA) nominees continues to grow with Slapdee, Bombshell Grenade and Sampa the great among the new list of nominees.
Slapdee – godfather of hip hop in Zambia – was nominated in the Best Male Southern Africa category. He will battle it out with the likes of Focalistic (South Africa), Shimza ( South Africa), Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe) among others.
Bombshell and Sampa will battle it out on the Best Female Rap Act category with the likes of Nadai Nakai (South Africa), Muthoni The Drummer Queen (Kenya), Ms Banks (Nigeria), Rosa Ree (Tanzania) and Askia (Cameroon).
Bombshell Grenade recently dropped her album ‘Mfumu Kadzi’ in July. ‘Mfumu Kadzi’ is special in many ways. It is a powerful gift for Zambia delivered in amazing and fascinating rap composition by the rap queen herself.
Mfumu Kadzi’ is a composition of life lessons aimed at making Zambia a better place. The new album emphasizes on women empowerment, and also captivates with its call for unity as a people in order to make “a village” a better place”.
For Sampa, she continues making Zambia a great place musically despite living in Australia while Slapdee’s Mother Tongue album is still fresh in the minds of people.
